The Hardware Problem: One Bottleneck, Not Many Lanes
The illusion of multitasking comes from the fact that some tasks genuinely can run in parallel — breathing while walking, listening to music while washing dishes. These work because they draw on different cognitive systems. One is largely automatic; the other requires attention.
